It requires dedication and change management. Happy to lead the way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accessibility is a very wide but also very deep field. There is a lot to learn, actually the learning never stops. It&#8217;s impossible to know about everything, so we need to share what we learn. Sometimes we even need to un-learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am trying to write about my experiences and thoughts on accessibility and also providing some useful resources for everybody that want&#8217;s to learn more on accessibility and make it an essential part of our online experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I decided to write in English as I feel it can reach more people than if I write in Norwegian or in Slovenian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To summarize some of the reasons behind this blog:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>to write about my experiences with implementing, testing and promoting accessibility,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to collect, review and extend useful accessibility resources,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to write about digital production and how to make it more accessible,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to reflect on universal design for digital solutions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to help to narrow down the differences between humans and make a web accessible for all, like it was meant to be.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Accessibility is not a feature, it&#8217;s crucial. If things are not accessible we discriminate people. Not only people with permanent disabilities but also people in difficult situations or life phases.<\/p>\n<cite>Bogdan Cerovac<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>What does &#8220;<strong>A11y<\/strong>&#8221; stand for &#8211; what does it mean? It&#8217;s short for accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The word accessibility is abbreviated to &#8220;a11y,&#8221; with the <strong>number eleven in the middle referring to the number of letters that the word contains between the first and last letter<\/strong>. It follows an information and communications technology (ICT)-oriented convention, just like internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n), which are used mostly in the software community.<\/p>\n<cite>techopedia.com<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A11y &#8211; 4 characters that include a whole new world for a newcomer and does not stop to amaze or disturb even more experienced developers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Accessibility is the practice of making your websites usable by as many people as possible.&nbsp;We traditionally think of this as being about people with disabilities, but&nbsp;the practice of making sites accessible also benefits other groups such as those using mobile devices, or those with slow network connections. <\/p>\n<cite>developer.mozilla.org<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The best time to make things accessible is before you let them be used by people.
