{"id":425,"date":"2020-07-26T12:48:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-26T11:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cerovac.com\/a11y\/?p=425"},"modified":"2020-07-26T13:13:05","modified_gmt":"2020-07-26T12:13:05","slug":"happy-30th-birthday-ada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cerovac.com\/a11y\/2020\/07\/happy-30th-birthday-ada\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy 30th birthday ADA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ada.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA, opens in new window) <\/a>is now 30 years old (signed into law on 26th of July 1990) and it is still a very important civil rights law that helps (web) accessibility and prohibits discrimination in all areas of public life, web included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Web was not a crucial part of the ADA when it was signed, but it is a good thing that web became an important part of ADA too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ADA is not just for USA in my opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of digital pioneers started in the states, so by acknowledging and adhering to ADA they actually improved accessibility for the rest of the world too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> It has for sure inspired many other governments to follow the same objectives of accessibility and was most certainly also one of drivers for the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/development\/desa\/disabilities\/convention-on-the-rights-of-persons-with-disabilities.html\" target=\"_blank\">Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (opens in new window)<\/a> that was adopted 16 years later (13th of December 2006). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So again &#8211; happy birthday ADA and I hope you will help even more people in the future!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law on 26th of July 1990.
