Yes – you have read it correctly – it may sound a bit peculiar but it can be pretty common – some people use the touch devices without touching them.

The title may be a bit strange at first but really – try to understand that we are very different and there are users of mobile phones that do not want or are not able to use the touch screen at all.

But how do they use the touch device then? Well there are a lot of options – from wireless keyboards to other, even wired interface devices made specially for them or maybe they are even controlling the device with their voice.

So – when developing for the mobile native applications we must always keep in mind that some users will actually not be using the touch screen possibilities to their full extent. So when you for example like to swipe and you think this interaction is the best thing that has happened to the world – think again – maybe you interface needs a more accessible way for it to work. Maybe somebody prefers a normal button or maybe somebody even does not have a choice.

So – never forget – there are even untouched touch screens out there and please think about the people that may be using the mobile devices with some other interfaces that are not relying on touch alone.
